It should be simple--a dragon defeated, a slumbering princess in a castle, a prince poised to wake her. But when the prince falls asleep as his lips touch the fair maiden's, it is clear that this fairy tale is far from over. With a desperate fairy's last curse controlling her mind, Princess Aurora must escape from a different castle of thorns and navigate a dangerously magical landscape--created from her very own dreams. Aurora isn't alone--a charming prince is eager to join her quest, and old friends offer their help. But as Maleficent's agents follow her every move, Aurora struggles to discover who her true allies are and, moreover, who she truly is. Time is running out. Will the sleeping beauty be able to wake herself up? REVIEW

overall really fleshes out a princess that hardly has any screen time in her own movie in a way that makes sense and is relevant to the basic framework we have about her character. Main character Aurora Rose, deals with depression. The journey is her growing as a person by facing her most significant flaws. The lessons & realizations are meaningful but the final showdown falls flat after all her growth. The romance itself is lackluster and honestly doesn’t need to be there. People in other reviews complain about how long author describes something but after being lied to and dealing with depression it makes sense how new everything feels to her and why this writing style was necessary. I would have preferred aurora rose & philip build a more solid foundation of friendship. I did appreciate that she wasn’t immediately in love with him after coming to her senses in the dreamworld and how they didn’t get married right away in the ending.
